Having successfully operated a transportation business since 1997, Capital Transportation President & CEO, Richard M. Crockett founded Capital Transportation Academy to meet the growing demand for commercial drivers. Recognizing the need to develop talent for the transportation industry, a personalized training approach was established where students could best be developed and fully prepared to start careers immediately following graduation. With this innovative model and strategic mindset, CTA has successfully instructed hundreds of drivers in obtaining their CDLs. With a 90% graduation rate, CTA ’s mission and vision changes students’ lives. CTA graduates earn valued and in-demand skills that open the road to great money to support families, and to be a vital part of our nation’s economy safely transporting goods.
Our Facility
Located at 1170 North Cassady Avenue in Columbus, Ohio, our five-acre training compound includes a newly renovated 5,000 square foot office complex with administrative offices, a multi-purpose room, and CDL classrooms. Our commercial driver skills pad area is an all-paved surface with training stations setup for backing maneuvers and pre-trip inspections required by the State of Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) CDL driving examination.

Our Industry Partners
Capital Transportation Academy works closely with a large group of local, regional, and national transportation industry employers who frequently visit our campus to recruit our students. We have no restrictions on who can recruit our students. Our goal is to provide our students complete and open access to transportation employers during the CTA experience.
