CDL CLASS A
Capital Transportation Academy’s CDL Class A Program is a five (5) week, 160-hour in-person training curriculum. Before you are able to drive a commercial truck, the law requires you to obtain CDL training to prepare you for the State of Ohio Class A CDL test. CTA offers personalized instruction to provide you with the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully pass your examination. Passing your exam will jump-start your career as a licensed commercial truck driver in the transportation industry.

If you obtain your Class A CDL, you can drive all classes of commercial vehicles, including Class B and Class C vehicles.
CDL CLASS A SCHEDULE
The Class A training schedule at Capital Transportation Academy includes the following base schedule:
Week #1 – 40 hours of Classroom instruction
Week #2 – 40 hours of Pre-Trip and Skills Pad instruction
Week #3 – 40 hours of Skills pad and Road instruction
Week #4 – 40 hours of a combination of Pre-Trip instruction, Skills Pad instruction, and Road instruction
Week #5 – Test Out

Capital Transportation Academy’s Licensed CDL Instructors each have over 20 years of commercial driving experience. Capital Transportation Academy maintains a fleet of nine (9) tractor/trailer units for Class A CDL training, including late-model Freightliner Cascadia and Freightliner Columbia tractors with 48 ft. dry van trailers for conducting training. The Freightliner specifications include Detroit Diesel engines with 10-speed Eaton Fuller transmissions, which is one of the most popular setups in the trucking industry. The condo sleeper areas of the Capital Transportation tractors have been converted into a student training configuration to include air-ride seating for up to four (4) trainees along with the CDL Instructor.
